Miriam Schwartz’s world falls apart after her husband, the head of a religious council commits suicide in the wake of a financial scandal. As an act of devotion to him she is determined to be buried by his side, in the section of the cemetery reserved for only those who have taken their own lives. In the maze of religious bureaucracy, Miriam meets Anna, a beautiful Russian immigrant, who must prove that her father was a Jew in order to fulfill his wish to be buried in the holy land.
