After he writes editorials critical of university students who ignore the rights of others, he is beaten up by angry readers. He marries a middle-aged woman who is a wealthy publisher and becomes a successful journalist. Only after his wife's suicide does he regret his ruthless ambition and reflect on his all-consuming rise to the top. The feature does not sidestep the generation gap issue or the ugliness of social and political opportunism practiced in Yugoslavia.
