Ever since his first exercises behind the camera, Rezo Esadze’s cinema has been pierced -or intervened- by censorship. In his debut film, Fro, he had to cut a series of scenes, and the same thing happened with Love at First Sight. The problem wasn’t the burlesque tone or those subtly erotic sequences—the reason for which the production and exhibition of this film could be considered fateful was due to a fight between Esadze and a Soviet bureaucrat. The starting point of one of his most celebrated features involves an unrequited love between a Muslim boy and an older Belarussian girl. 48 years after its bumpy release and 35 after the release of the cut the director had dreamed of, this story about cultural differences, family mandates and football matches will allow the viewer to discover a decidedly popular, and why not, universal, piece of cinema.源自:https://www.mardelplatafilmfest.com/38/en/pelicula/love-at-first-sight
