Stuf (Reed) is a poem to the reed pickers, the fishermen from Romania, in Danube Delta and follows the reeds journey from its picking in cold winter by skating fishermen to its different usage. The image and sound (choir parts from Carl Orff's Carmina Burana) are strongly linked together in an cinematographic document that carries the powerful meanings of every scene in part, being stripped off of meaningless voiceovers and narrating directions. One might argue, stupidly, its glamouring style of depicting workers, for communist regime benefit propaganda, yet nevertheless, this is documentary film at its best as a whole.Titus MESAROS was born in Bacau, Romania at 10.07.1925 and died in 2006. He was a famous and respected Romanian film documentarist, member of the Sahia Studio, the most famous and professional Romanian documentary film studio.
