五一路，太原市的一条老街。1955年开业的华义美发厅已经成为这条路上最后一家国营理发老店。没有人能说得清美发厅所在的小二楼是哪一年建成，据说已经百年的历史。时年66岁的武占梅和45岁的李世敏一直承包经营着这家美发厅，以传统的理发手艺，为周边的老顾客提供着“原汁原味”的服务。2016年，太原市政府计划对五一路进行道路改造，如果华艺美发厅因此而被拆迁，不仅会使这家老店从此淡出，也意味着武占梅和李世敏的生计将受到冲击，当然已经被人们认为是绝活的理发手艺或许就此湮灭。One of the last state-owned hair salons in China's Shanxi province had just celebrated its 60th birthday before words came in that the street was about to be reconstructed and renovated, putting the old-fashioned salon on the verge of closing down. The film documented two barbers' struggle in protecting their salon, their jobs, and their traditional way of living and working, reflecting their helplessness and confusion in the wave of the city's civilization and modernization.
