The widow Yu lives in an isolated house with her retarded daughter Bok Hi and a retarded servant Man Bok. Bok Hi and Man Bok sleep together but nothing happens. Yu is constantly leaving the house to be with Koh, who sells bread in the marketplace. Man Bok learns of women after succumbing to the seductions of the bar waitress Hyang Ok. He grows curious of Bok Hi and she ends uppregnant with his child. When the villagers learn of this, they beat Man Bok and chase him out of town, but Yu receives Man Bok warmly.
