Pedro has a tough time dealing with corruption in his work as a claims adjuster for an insurer in Mexico. Seeking an escape, he befriends filmmaker and artist Miguel Calderón, hoping that the world of contemporary art will offer him relief. But when he becomes attracted to an actress and impulsively accepts a role in a play about violence and femicide, it leads to a personal crisis. This marks the start of an exploration of a world populated by predators and scavengers; a reflection on the turbulence that exists in Mexican society. Calderón situates this dynamic in a creative context that plays with reality and imagination, and draws parallels between Pedro’s experiences in the theater and the human tragedies he encounters in his work. Interwoven with this narrative is the filmmaker’s own friendship with Pedro, his main protagonist, who at his request is played by someone else. The locations and landscapes have a powerful effect, alternating between devastation and serenity, repeatedly prompting thoughts about life and death.
